Sunny Deol's 'Border 2' crosses USD $1 Million mark in North America
Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’ is making waves, crossing $1 million in North America on its second day, a testament to his enduring overseas appeal post-‘Gadar 2’. The patriotic action flick also dominated the Indian box office with a massive Rs 121 crore opening weekend, outperforming ‘Dhurandhar’s’ debut. Despite weather disruptions, the film’s strong international performance is a significant win.

Sunny Deol’s Border 2 is off to a strong start not just domestically, but also in key overseas territories, with the film crossing the USD $1 million mark in North America on 2nd day itself. The milestone reinforces Deol’s renewed overseas traction following the massive cross-border success of Gadar 2, while also signaling that patriotic action dramas continue to find a niche with diaspora audiences. Traditionally Sunny Deol has been an overseas star, his films have always had a huge fan following in India. Border 2 opened on Friday with a promising USD 435K,the real jump arrived on Saturday as positive chatter and weekend footfall pushed the film to USD 632K, representing a healthy day-over-day increase. On Sunday, as of early evening, the film had collected USD 290K, and while a full-day tally would typically have yielded further gains, the numbers are expected to land below Saturday due to storm-related disruptions across several North American markets, affecting late-evening shows and overall turnout. Even with the partial Sunday figure, the film comfortably breached the $1 million mark, positioning Border 2 as one of the better opening frames for a Hindi action title post-pandemic.In India, Border 2 posted an emphatic Rs 121 crore weekend, after opening at Rs 30 crore on Friday, growing to Rs 36.5 crore on Saturday (+21.67%), and exploding to Rs 54.5 crore on Sunday (+49.32%). The domestic total also gives Border 2 early bragging rights as it beat Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh‘s Dhurandhar’s opening weekend total of Rs 103 crore, an impressive comparison given Dhurandhar eventually went on to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time with Rs 833.4 crore in India. For now, North America remains a key talking point. Crossing $1 million on opening weekend without holiday support, without a diaspora-specific genre like romance or comedy, and while facing weather-related disruptions is being viewed as a win for both the film and Deol’s overseas market rehabilitation. If the storms clear and word-of-mouth sustains, Border 2 could test higher weekend multiples .Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and features Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Paramvir Cheema, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana and Sonam Bajwa.
