Kolkata: After Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya, Union minister and BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar has reached out to netas of opposition parties in the state in a bid to woo them into joining the saffron party. Majumdar called upon Congress senior Mohit Sengupta on Friday to join BJP to effect a change of govt in the state.Speaking at a rally in Uttar Dinajpur, Majumdar said, “BJP will play a crucial role in the election. But other opposition parties will also have to think responsibly.”“Congress has minimal presence in North Dinajpur. There are good netas like Mohit Sengupta who want to dislodge Trinamool. I would suggest the time has come for them to take a second look at their decisions,” he added.“If they meet CM Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna over fish fry and coffee, it will not serve any purpose. They have to strengthen Narendra Modi,” he said further.Sengupta, the septuagenarian Congress neta from North Dinajpur, has been with Congress for decades. He has been five-time chairperson of Raiganj municipality and is credited with ensuring Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi’s victory in the 1999 Lok Sabha polls.
