Varanasi: Renowned sitar maestro and mentor Pt Ram Prapanna Bhattacharya provided in-depth training to the students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in the Imdadkhani style (Etawah Gharana) during a workshop organised by the faculty of performing arts on Friday.Pt Bhattacharya elaborated on various aspects of riyaaz (practice techniques), alankaar (ornamentations), right- and left-hand movements, different types of jhala, elaborate development of ragas, and various forms of taans. He also demonstrated their practical application.In the second session, Pt Bhattacharya discussed various compositions and types of taans based on Raga Yaman and demonstrated their application through live performance, offering valuable insights into the raga’s structure and expression.
