Hyderabad: About 55,000 students from the state, studying under CBSE and ICSE boards, are gearing up to write their Class 10 exams from Tuesday. While about 50,000 will be appearing for the CBSE board, about 5,000 will be writing their ICSE exams.Teachers said CBSE students will have to be doubly careful given the confusion still surrounding the two-board exam policy. “Even now, at this stage, students are assuming that they can attempt four out of five subjects now, and one later, but that is not the case. They have to attempt all subjects and can write improvement in three core subjects later,” said Simi Nagi, principal, Delhi International School, Kompally.Students should write answers in the right section — a geography answer cannot be written in the political science section or biology in the chemistry section. Students were advised to use blue gel or ballpoint pens, and will have to tie the map at the end of the answer sheet and not near the respective question number. There is no change in exam pattern for ICSE students. “The most important step that many students forget is to read the entire question paper. Keywords are a must to score marks. In subjects like Maths, it is important to show or prove their work, and not just concentrate on getting to the answer,” said Mir Hafeezuddin Ahmed, principal, Nasr Boys School.
