Jaipur: The state education department has launched a statewide programme to improve the condition of govt school buildings ahead of the monsoon, with an emphasis on student safety and infrastructure strengthening.Following the collapse of a school building in Piplodi village of Jhalawar in July 2025, the department carried out an assessment to identify structurally weak schools. Officials said dilapidated buildings were identified on priority and repair work was taken up on a war footing.

The department added that waterproofing and repair work has been completed in around 21,000 schools across the state with support from the State Disaster Response Force. Construction of 175 new school buildings is also in progress, while other works include new girls’ toilets, science laboratories, hostels and repairs at anganwadi centres.
