SSC aspirant molested, robbed near exam centre

Lucknow: A female candidate appearing for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment examination was allegedly molested and deprived of her belongings in the Chinhat police station area. The victim, a resident of Gonda district, arrived at the examination centre around 7 am on Monday. According to her complaint, while she was looking for a toilet, a youth directed her to one located inside a nearby house. Following his suggestion, she left her bag, containing her Aadhaar card, PAN card, examination admit card, and Rs 5,000 in cash, at a nearby shop for safekeeping. The victim alleged that the youth attempted to touch her inappropriately with ā€œmalicious intentā€ while she was at the premises. Shaken by the ordeal, she managed to leave the spot and rushed to the examination centre. However, her troubles intensified when she returned to the shop and found that her cash and all original documents were missing from her bag. To avoid missing the recruitment opportunity, she was forced to download a fresh copy of her admit card online to appear for the test. After the examination, Soni returned to the shop, where the shopkeeper informed her that the youth had already fled the scene. The victim initially reported the incident to the Women Helpline (1090). Following the helpline’s advice, she submitted a formal complaint at the Chinhat police station.
