Varanasi: Saiydraja police in Chandauli district registered a case under various sections against Samajwadi Party former MLA Manoj Singh alias Dablu, and around 60 unidentified people after a dispute over playing DJ music during Saraswati idol immersion on the night of Jan 26.According to reports, youths from Saiydraja town arranged a DJ from Ayodhya for idol immersion after Saraswati puja. On Jan 26 night, when they went for idol immersion, dancing and singing to DJ music, police asked for the volume to be reduced. This was resented by the group and the atmosphere became tense. On receiving information, SP ex-MLA Manoj Kumar Singh reached the spot and spoke to police on behalf of the youths. The former MLA cited permission taken to play music, but police directed them to change the procession route. A heated argument broke out between the former MLA and CO Devendra Kumar. Singh said if police wanted to trigger a riot, he was ready to go to jail along with 10,000 youths. In response, CO Devendra Kumar said anyone found trying to incite a riot would get a befitting reply.Police registered a case against Manoj Singh, DJ operator Shubham Gupta, Deepak Murti, Ashish, and 50 to 60 unidentified people under sections 191(2)/192/351(2)/223/270/292 BNS, 7 CLA Act, and section 15 of the Environment Protection Act 1986.
