Ahmedabad: Six Class 8 students of Divan Ballubhai School in Paldi went missing for a few hours on Wednesday evening after leaving the school premises around the time the campus closed, triggering concern among parents and prompting police action. The students were later traced and brought back safely, police said.According to school authorities, the incident was linked to an earlier dispute among the students on a WhatsApp group and Instagram. One of the students subsequently complained to the school management, which led to the school summoning parents of the students involved. When parents of two students reached the school after hours, they found that their children were not present. The matter was immediately raised with school authorities, who informed the police at around 6.30pm.Confirming the incident, school principal Vipul Dave said, “Six students of Class 8 did not go home after school hours. We informed the police and they were later found. Initially, we thought they might have gone to the flower show, but they were located elsewhere.” City district education officer Rohit Chaudhary said the principal of Divan Ballubhai School informed his office about the missing students. “We sought a detailed report from the school after receiving information that some students were unaccounted for,” he said. Paldi police inspector Manju Pardava said, “There was an internal issue among the students, reportedly related to appearing for examinations. Due to fear, they ran out of the school.”Police said that the students first went to Parimal Garden, and later proceeded to the residence of one of the students. From there, police traced them and ensured their safe return.
