Sivasagar DC inspects Asom Mala road works, stresses timely completion

Dibrugarh: Sivasagar district commissioner (DC) Mridul Yadav carried out an extensive inspection of ongoing road construction works under the state govt’s flagship Asom Mala scheme on Monday, reviewing progress across several key infrastructure projects in the district. The inspection tour covered critical stretches including the BG Road linking Sivasagar to Chumoni, the Balighat-Na-Kachari Road, and the Amguri-Balighat route. At each site, Yadav examined construction quality, monitored adherence to timelines, and issued directions to ensure timely completion while maintaining prescribed standards of safety and durability.“Our priority is to ensure that the roads are built to the highest standards. We are monitoring progress closely to make sure the work is completed on time and remains durable and safe for commuters for years to come,” Yadav said. The Asom Mala scheme is a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening road connectivity across Assam. In Sivasagar, the new roads are expected to reduce travel time to nearby hubs such as Amguri and Nazira, facilitating smoother transport of agricultural produce and improving access to essential services. The DC was accompanied by additional district commissioner Lukumoni Bora, circle officers Arup Birakomia (Amguri) and Chandana Baruah (Nazira), assistant commissioner Subhajit Khound, and technical staff from the public works (roads) department, who provided detailed briefings on construction methodology, materials, and anticipated completion schedules.
