Kanpur: As many as 35,000 cases of ‘No-Mapping’ were heard and disposed of by assistant registration officers and 10 electoral registration officers under SIR in Kanpur City, said district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Thursday.Singh, who is also district election officer, said around 2,70,000 voters were identified in ‘No-Mapping’ and notices were issued to 1,70,325 voters so far. During the hearing, the voters concerned submitted the necessary documents from the 13 valid records prescribed by the Election Commission of India and recorded their statements.He said voters who were unable to attend the first hearing were given an additional opportunity. If someone was unable to attend in person, they could send a family member as a representative. The DM said that till now about 1.25 lakh Form-6 and more than 40,000 Form-8 were received. He said the objective of this entire process was to ensure that all eligible, usual residents and Indian citizens above 18 years of age were included in the voters list.He said preparations for publication of the final voter list on March 6, incorporating the list of about 26 lakh existing voters, were in the final stages. During this process, continuous communication and cooperation were received from representatives of various political parties in the district.Appealing to citizens, the DM said that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, all voters must check their names in the draft voter list published on Jan 6 and in case of any error, relevant form could be filled.He said eligible citizens whose names were not included in the list could register their names by filling Form-6 so that their names could be included in the final voter list to be published on March 6. He said ‘Booth Day’ would be organised again on January 31 at all 3770 booths of the district.
