Sikh candidates made to remove ‘karra’ in CTET at Bathinda village: SGPC chief

Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami on Monday said he had ordered a probe at the SGPC’s level into Sikh candidates being allegedly made to remove their ‘karras’ during CTET at a school in Bathinda.According to a statement issued by Dhami, the incident came to light recently at a centre of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) set up at Delhi Public School in Bhokhra village of Bathinda, where Sikh candidates were reportedly asked to remove their karras. The karra is one of the five Sikh articles of faith.

He said the incident took place in spite of Punjab being a Sikh-majority state, where everyone was aware of the karra being an inseparable article of Sikhism.He questioned under whose directions such actions were taking place and said the incident required a thorough investigation.
