Noida: Light rainfall and a hailstorm on Tuesday evening brought air quality back to ‘poor’ in Noida and Ghaziabad on Wednesday, after it had worsened to ‘very poor’ the day before. Visibility remained below 200m in the region during morning hours.Noida logged an AQI of 217 against 331 the day before, while Greater Noida’s AQI saw a more significant shift to ‘moderate’ at 189 from Tuesday’s 304. In Ghaziabad, the AQI was recorded at 234 against 304 the day before.According to Central Pollution Board portal, Sector 1 (AQI 254), Sector 125 (AQI 237, and Sector 116 (AQI 212) all recorded ‘poor’ air quality on Wednesday, while Sector 62 (AQI 166) was slightly better off in the ‘moderate’ range. In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park V (AQI 189) recorded ‘moderate’ air, while data from the Knowledge Park III station were not available.In Ghaziabad, Loni recorded the worst AQI at 391 in the ‘very poor’ category, followed by Indirapuram (AQI 268) and Vasundhara (AQI 252) in the ‘poor’ range. Sanjay Nagar recorded the best air quality in the region at 95 in the ‘satisfactory’ range. According to IMD, Delhi-NCR may record cold nights as the minimum temperature is likely to dip to 6-9 degrees Celsius over the next two days. Parts of the city may record dense fog on Thursday and rain during the weekend. India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for moderate to dense fog on Thursday morning. It also predicted that the minimum temperature might drop to between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius on Thursday, rise marginally to 7-9 degrees on Friday and stay 6-8 degrees on Friday. The maximum temperature was 18.4 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.“The city may see cloudy skies from Saturday afternoon due to another western disturbance, with the possibility of very light rain accompanied by a thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds up to 40kmph towards night. One or two spells of light rain are likely on Sunday,” IMD predicted.
