Shot in the arm for Gujarat’s MSMEs: Experts

Gujarat’s industry leaders on Sunday said that proposals announced by the finance minister in the Union Budget will boost MSMEs through measures aimed at growth, credit access and competitiveness. Rajesh Gandhi, senior vice-president, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), said, “The provisions will ensure easier credit facilities for MSMEs.”A number of industrialists attended the Budget screening held at GCCI in Ahmedabad. Apurva Shah, vice president, GCCI, said, “The govt will rejuvenate 200 legacy industrial clusters through infrastructure and technology enhancement. This will help Gujarat MSMEs compete in the international market because the state has cluster-based industries.” Gokul Jaykrishna, chairman, FICCI Gujarat, said, “A new Rs 10,000 crore fund dedicated to creating ‘future champions’ by incentivizing firms based on productivity and export-readiness can be an important announcement for MSMEs.”Ajit Shah, president, Sanand Industries Association, said, “The introduction of a credit guarantee mechanism specifically for invoice discounting on the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) platform will lower financing costs for MSMEs.” tnn
