New Delhi: Public Works Department is planning to construct service lanes and a toe wall along Ring Road near the Millennium bus depot and Baansera. This is expected to improve access and safety on one of Delhi’s busiest arterial corridors.A tender has been floated for the project, which has an estimated value of ₹3.7 crore. The work is scheduled to be completed within 60 days from the date of commencement.
Ring Road carries heavy daily traffic, including buses, commercial vehicles and inter-city commuters. Before the work begins, there are plans to carry out a detailed road pavement condition survey using advanced survey techniques. These include laser-based systems, GPS mapping and video image processing tools. This data will be fed into road and pavement maintenance systems. Based on the survey’s findings, the bituminous concrete will be laid to strengthen and restore road surfaces where required.“The project is intended to support smoother movement on Ring Road while addressing structural and maintenance needs along the corridor. Without service roads, every local stop or turn spills directly onto the main lanes, slowing traffic and increasing risk,” explained an official.
