Prayagraj: With the standoff around Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati showing no sign of easing at the Magh Mela, a group of eight to ten youths — calling themselves “crore santatani sympathisers” —allegedly caused chaos outside his camp on Saturday night, trying to force their way in before being pushed back by the seer’s followers. After the incident, Mela police ramped up security around Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s camp, while his disciples voiced worries about his personal safety and urged senior police officials to put in place a solid security bandobast. On Saturday night, a group of youths claiming to be “core sanatani sympathisers” arrived outside Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s camp carrying sticks and saffron flags, shouted slogans, and allegedly made an abortive bid to enter the camp premises. This also led to a scuffle-like situation between them and the Swami’s followers.Although the Swwami’s followers managed to push them out of the camp, it created a panic-like situation. Followers of the Swami, however, warned that any further attempts to breach the camp could pose a serious threat to devotees and property. They claimed that the entire incident was captured on CCTV.Meanwhile, Sachin, one of the youths from the ‘core Sanatani sympathisers’, said that he, along with other supporters, was impressed by the work of the Yogi Adityanath govt, but Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s followers allegedly exchanged heated arguments with them. Sachin asserted that they were annoyed over Swami’s comment on CM Yogi, which is highly reprehensible. SP ( Magh Mela) Neeraj Pandey told TOI that both the groups have submitted their applications with police stations concerned and mela cops are investigating the incident.
