Pune: A scooter rider pushed a woman (67) and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 4 lakh at Lane No. 6 in Kalyaninagar at around 7.45pm on Friday.According to the Yerawada police, the woman was out for shopping in the Nagpur Chawl area in an autorickshaw and later returned to Kalyaninagar in another autorickshaw.
Following the incident, she approached the Yerawada police and lodged a complaint of chain snatching against the scooter rider.“Upon her arrival in Lane No. 6, the victim handed over some notes to pay the fare. However, the rickshaw driver requested her to make the payment using her UPI application as he did not have change,” said senior inspector Anjum Bagwan of Yerawada police station.“The woman got down from the autorickshaw and was scanning the QR code to make the payment when a scooter rider came to the spot and halted his scooter behind the autorickshaw. He walked in front of the rickshaw and then went towards the woman. He pushed her hard and snatched her gold chain,” Bagwan said.“He had kept ignition of his scooter on, and after snatching the chain, he ran towards the vehicle and sped away,” Bagwan said.“Despite the fall, the woman did not suffer any injuries,” he said. “The CCTV cameras captured the incident and our team is analysing the footage to ascertain the registration number of the scooter,” he added.
