Agartala: Union DoNER minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday laid the foundation stone of the Rs 80p-crore Agarwood value chain development project at Fulkabari in North Tripura.He said under PM Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed northeast, he has brought several development initiatives for the region during this visit and agarwood value chain is one of them. Scindia said India’s agarwood production capacity is primarily concentrated in Tripura and Assam, and the project aims to strengthen both states’ role in the sector.He said the project will strengthen the entire agarwood value chain from trees in farmers’ fields to perfume bottles in international markets. “Two Central Processing Centres will be established under the scheme, one in Golaghat (Assam) and the other in this region of Tripura. These centres will enable processing, branding and eliminating middlemen, ensuring farmers receive the full value of their produce,” he said.
