Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, operated by the social welfare department, will take a leaf out of the book of the country’s best boarding schools and be run as per the best practices available in India. A team of principals and teachers from Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, in collaboration with the Boarding Schools Association of India (BSAI), will visit prestigious boarding schools affiliated with the BSAI. During the visits, they will study teaching methodologies, student care systems, hostel management, and administrative procedures. Based on their findings, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be prepared and implemented in all 125 Sarvodaya Vidyalayas across the state, which provide free education and residential facilities to students from SC/ST, backward classes, and other categories.
In a meeting with members and principals associated with the BSAI at the Doon School in Dehradun on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh social welfare minister Asim Arun said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed between the department and the BSAI soon. “We discussed in detail the best practices being implemented in boarding schools, effective administrative systems, student welfare, discipline, extracurricular activities, and models related to the holistic development of students. The objective of this initiative is to bring successful experiences from the country’s best boarding schools to Sarvodaya Vidyalayas. This will strengthen not only education but also the residential system of Sarvodaya Vidyalayas,” Arun said.
