Kanpur: As many as 17 out of 153 complaints were resolved on the spot during the Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas (complete grievance redressal day) held at the Merchant Chamber of Commerce in Sadar Tehsil on Saturday.The event was chaired by DM Jitendra Pratap Singh, who directed officials concerned to ensure quality disposal of the remaining complaints within the stipulated seven-day timeframe prescribed under the grievance redressal mechanism. The DM said the programme was not a mere formality and stressed that every complaint must be resolved to the satisfaction of the complainant. He added that he would personally review pending cases and fix accountability in instances of negligence.Several grievances were addressed promptly during the event. Ansh Singh, a resident of Naubasta, was issued a disability certificate on the spot through a special medical camp organised at the venue. In another case, an error in revenue records of Wahiduddin Ahmed, a resident of Colonelganj, was immediately rectified.Similarly, discrepancies in the names of Raj Bahadur Kamal and his father, a resident of Panki, were corrected based on the report of the revenue inspector. In case of Himanshu Shukla from Fazalganj, the formalities for surrendering his late father’s arms licence were completed immediately, sparing him unnecessary inconvenience.Department-wise data showed that the highest number of complaints—69—were related to the Revenue department. This was followed by 26 complaints against the Police department, 19 against the municipal corporation, 17 against the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA), and four complaints each against the District Supply department, Water Tax department and KESCO. The remaining complaints pertained to other departments.
