Sambalpur: Odisha govt has decided to bifurcate Sambalpur tehsil, with a new tehsil to be established at Burla, comprising Burla and Hirakud areas. The announcement was made by revenue minister Suresh Pujari on Monday during a review meeting.Pujari said the state govt is focusing on speeding up revenue-related work by integrating modern technology to ensure citizens receive quality services without the need for repeated office visits. He reiterated the govt’s “zero tolerance” policy towards corruption, warning that strict action would be taken against officials involved in illegal activities, while sincere and efficient employees would be rewarded.Outlining the broader administrative restructuring plan, the minister said Bhubaneswar would be divided into three tehsils, while Cuttack would be split into two. To support the restructuring, the govt will soon fill several vacant posts of revenue inspectors and amins. A new revenue inspector (RI) office will be set up in every panchayat in a phased manner, with one RI initially covering two panchayats.
