Ludhiana: Traffic authorities launched a targeted enforcement drive outside a private women’s college in the busy Ghumar Mandi area on Monday, part of a broader push to bolster student safety and curb aggressive driving in educational zones.The operation, led by additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP, traffic) Gurpreet Kaur Purewal, resulted in 24 citations for various traffic and safety violations, targeting anti-social behaviour. While the drive focused on road safety, officials emphasized that the location was chosen specifically to deter anti-social activities and women’s harassment. Undercover teams and uniformed officers maintained a high-visibility presence to monitor individuals loitering suspiciously near the campus gates.Key enforcement actions included crackdown on motorcycles equipped with illegal exhaust systems, often used for “stunt riding” and noise pollution. Several vehicles were flagged for a failure to carry valid registration and insurance papers. Individuals found roaming the area without a valid reason were formally warned on the spot by police teams.
