Kanpur: Congress state president Ajay Rai met the 14-year-old rape survivor’s family in Kanpur on Wednesday and accused the police of helping the accused sub-inspector to escape.Rai visited the survivor’s family along with the party workers and levelled serious allegations against the state’s law and order and the police department. Attacking the govt, he said that the protectors have become predators and the Congress will fight this battle on the streets.Rai said that it was extremely shameful that those who are responsible for the security of people have become predators. He alleged that the accused SI was given protection and was helped to escape by people from his department itself. Announcing a reward on the accused SI is merely a show, he said adding that in reality, the police were protecting the criminal.Ajay Rai further said that law and order has completely collapsed in the Yogi govt and daughters are not safe. While consoling the survivor’s family, he assured that the entire Congress party stands firmly with them. He demanded an impartial investigation of the case and immediate arrest of the accused sub-inspector, and strictest punishment for him.
