Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC’s) standing committee on Friday approved a one-week extension of the flower show at the Sabarmati Riverfront, citing an overwhelming response from visitors.The flower show, which opened on Jan 1 was originally scheduled to conclude on Jan 22. With the extension, the event will now remain open to the public until Jan 29.During the meeting, the standing committee also reviewed the city’s growing traffic congestion and issued directions for strict action against commercial complexes that do not have adequate parking facilities. It further ordered action against commercial units that deny visitors access to designated parking spaces. The committee said the Prahladnagar Multilevel Parking facility will be opened for public use shortly to ease parking woes.The committee also directed the civic administration to remove encroachments in front of the Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur and to clear illegal encroachments beneath the Jamalpur flyover as part of ongoing urban management and traffic improvement measures.
