Lucknow: A woman levelled serious allegations of mental harassment, molestation and abuse of official position against a sub-inspector posted at a police station in Barabanki.The woman alleged that the officer began visiting her home under the pretext of investigating a family dispute registered in Dec 2024. She claimed he repeatedly called her, pressured her to leave her husband and tried to lure her with promises of a job.According to the complaint, when she resisted, the officer allegedly subjected her to mental and physical harassment. She further alleged that she was forcibly pulled into the officer’s vehicle and molested, managing to escape only after raising an alarm. The woman also claimed that the officer continued visiting her house, often in the absence of male family members and behaved indecently.The victim’s family alleged threats of false criminal cases against her husband. Complaints were submitted to senior police officials and the chief minister’s grievance portal. Police said the matter was under inquiry and statements were being recorded.
