Applications have opened for 2,000 volunteer roles at next year’s Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Limerick, with a staggering 24,000 registrations of interest already received.

Ryder Cup Europe has announced that applications are now open to become a volunteer for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, which takes place from September 13 to September 19, 2027. There will be two types of volunteer role available, with the traditional on-course marshal role joined by a new-look ‘ambassador’ role that will support the overall fan experience and the smooth running of the event.

Applications for both roles are now open and will close on April 1.

“The 2027 Ryder Cup will be the biggest sporting event that Ireland has ever staged and the world will be watching.  Our volunteers will have the opportunity to be at the heart of this iconic event and be part of history,” said Kit Gartrell, Ryder Cup Event Delivery Director at the European Tour Group, said. “We have already had more than 24,000 expressions of interest in these roles on our website, which shows the passion for the event.”

Applicants can initially apply for an ambassador or marshal role and will be notified if their application has been successful in August 2026. Further details on their specific role at the event will then follow in November 2026.

The ambassador volunteers will be stationed at key locations – from transport hubs across Limerick to the entrances to the golf course and key locations on-site such as the Fan Village – where they will guide visitors and answer questions. Organisers say no golf knowledge or experience is needed.  “For our ambassador role, we want to encourage applications from a diverse pool of people to showcase the country’s famously warm and welcoming hospitality to the thousands of visitors from across the globe who will visit the region,” said Mr Gartrell.

Marshals will work on the day-to-day operations across the golf course, helping ensure the smooth operation of play. This includes providing guidance and support in areas such as grandstands, individual holes of play, accessibility areas, and managing on-course transport requirements. Organisers say this role would suit confident communicators working as part of a team with a good understanding of golf.

“Ireland has a strong track record of hosting major international golf tournaments, with a strong network of marshals already in existence as a result. We want to tap into this expertise, and identify new talent, to make sure the 2027 Ryder Cup delivers a best-in-class experience for players and fans,” said Mr Gartrell.

The 2027 Ryder Cup will celebrate the event’s 100th anniversary match and will be the second time that Ireland has hosted the event, following the K Club in Kildare in 2006.

Those interested in applying for the volunteer roles can register via the dedicated volunteer page on the Ryder Cup website. Those who registered their interest will be contacted directly via email by Ryder Cup Europe in the coming days to complete the application form.
