Rs3.5 cr assets of cough syrup racket accused forfeited

Varanasi: Chandauli police on Sunday completed formalities for forfeiture of property illegally by codeine syrup racket accused Swapnil Keshri.Chandauli CO (Pt Deen Dayal Padhyaya Nagar) Arun Kumar Singh said joint team of crime branch and Mughalsarai police completed legal formalities for forfeiture of six immovable properties worth Rs 3.5 crore of Keshri and his family members, located in Bechupur, Chandhasi and Harishankarpur.Lodged in jail after cases were registered with Mughalsarai police under sections of BNS and the NDPS Act, Keshri, resident of Krishna Nagar Colony in Chandhasi, faced forfeiture of properties under Section 68F of the NDPS Act for acquiring them through illegal trafficking.The list of forfeited properties comprised a plot in Chandhasi worth Rs 1.5 crore, a house in Bechupur worth Rs 95 lakh, another property in same area worth Rs 25 lakh, two plots worth Rs 30 lakh and Rs 20 lakh in Chandhasi, and another in Harishankarpur worth Rs 30 lakh.Of 4 cases lodged against him, two are in Mughalsarai and one each in Varanasi and Sonbhadra.
