Rs 2 lakh crore AI hub to come up off Yamuna Expressway in 2 years

Noida: A 289-acre one gigawatt high-performance computing and artificial intelligence hub will be coming up off the Yamuna Expressway. The Rs 2.2 lakh crore project, spanning over 114 acres in Sector 28 and 175 acres in Sector 8D, is likely to begin operations by 2028, with full capacity by 2030. The Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) issued a Letter of Intent to Hyderabad-based AM Group (AMG), backed by the founders of Greenko Group on Thursday. The state govt had announced in Davos its intent to develop one of India’s largest AI hubs, and this project is being positioned as a step towards that objective. The proposed AI and computing hub is planned as a large-scale facility designed to host around five lakh advanced high-performance chipsets. The infrastructure will support AI workloads, large data processing requirements and cloud-based services. The facility will cater to global hyperscalers, research institutions, enterprises and India’s sovereign AI initiatives. The project is expected to generate thousands of high-skilled jobs and attract substantial foreign investment to the state. Beyond direct employment, it is likely to create demand for hardware manufacturing, semiconductor-related services, software development and specialised cooling technologies required for large data centre operations.A key component of the project is its energy model. The data centre will operate on 24×7 carbon-free energy sourced from renewable energy systems, including solar, wind and pumped storage hydropower. AMG stated the computing infrastructure will be fully aligned with its carbon-neutral strategy and energy transition platform.Under its AMG AI Labs initiative, the group is working on building an integrated value chain that links clean energy supply to AI computing capacity. The platform aims to enable the development of AI tokens that can deliver sector-specific solutions in industries such as energy, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, media, gaming and cloud services. AMG is promoted by the founders of Greenko Group, which operates renewable energy infrastructure across more than 20 states in India.
