Jalandhar: Former Indian cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh sanctioned a grant of Rs 13.5 lakh from his MPLADS funds for the installation of a solar power plant at the Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium in Jalandhar.In 2023, he sanctioned a grant of Rs 16.5 lakh for the installation of a modern gymnasium equipment at the same venue.
The Punjab Badminton Association honorary secretary Ritin Khanna said that with the installation of the solar power plant, the stadium’s electricity expenditure would reduce substantially. “The savings will be reinvested in player development and training, thereby further improving facilities and opportunities for aspiring shuttlers,” he said.The badminton stadium is managed by the Jalandhar District Badminton Association, headed by the deputy commissioner.
