Rs 1.2-crore water supply project opened in Model Town.

Ludhiana: Moving forward under the canal based water supply project, Atam Nagar MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu inaugurated the project to install a water supply pipeline in Model Town area (Ward Number 51) on Wednesday.Under this project, a 1km pipeline would be installed at a cost of around Rs 1.2 crore. Accompanied by area councillor Komalpreet Monty Sachdeva, MLA Sidhu said that an overhead water reservoir (OHSR) is existing in the area and under this project, the associated pipeline of the OHSR is being installed.MLA Sidhu said that people-centric projects are being taken up across the state. The legislator further said that the concerned officials have been directed to take all the necessary measures to ensure safety of the residents while installing the pipeline. Further they have also been directed to complete the project within the stipulated time period.The work is being done under the first phase of the World Bank and AIIB funded canal based water supply project wherein a world class water treatment plant (WTP) is also being established in Bilga village near Sahnewal. Overhead water reservoirs and associated pipelines are also being installed in different parts of the city under the first phase of the project which is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 1,300 crore.
