Roses & music: Volunteers bring Valentine Day cheers to seniors

Vadodara: Valentine’s Day took on a special meaning in the city on Saturday as a self-help initiative organized an intergenerational celebration titled “Golden Hearts, Timeless Love” at a senior care facility.Volunteers welcomed elderly residents with roses and handwritten greeting cards, setting a warm and festive tone. The programme featured light games, including ball-throwing activities, along with music and dance sessions to classic melodies. A lively “Guess the Song” round drew enthusiastic participation from the seniors, adding to the celebratory spirit.Beyond entertainment, volunteers engaged with residents through conversations and storytelling, fostering companionship and emotional bonding. The initiative aimed to go beyond conventional Valentine’s Day celebrations by focusing on dignity, affection, and shared joy across generations.The event was led by founders Arti Sharma and Pooja Dikshit Joshi, along with core team members Sunita Kambar, Priti Shrimal, and Nishi Dhal Samal, supported by several volunteers.
