Ropeway proposed between Farmagudi and Mardangad fort

Ponda: Power minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar said the tourism department is considering a ropeway connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fort at Farmagudi to Mardangad fort at Shantinagar and Siddhanath hills in Borim to promote hinterland tourism.Dhavalikar announced the proposed project during Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at Farmagudi fort on Thursday. He said the fort’s renovation will be completed before the next anniversary, and they plan to invite the Prime Minister to unveil the renovated fort, which will also house a museum featuring Shivaji-era artefacts.Several civic body members attended the function organised by the department of information and publicity.Keynote speaker Krishnaji Kulkarni said everyone should learn from the bravery and governance of Shivaji Maharaj. School children recited ballads praising the Maratha emperor.
