Pune: Ajit Pawar‘s nephew and MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday said the Pawar family reunited again as per his late uncle’s wish, after casting his vote at Pimpali village in Baramati for the Pune Zilla Parishad elections — the first polls after the death of the former deputy CM on Jan 28.Rohit said during his recent discussions with his uncle, Ajit Pawar, before the plane crash, the latter wanted to ensure reunion of the family. “Ajit Dada was taking the lead to bridge the gap between the divided sections of our family. It was his wish to see us together, and today we have reunited as a family,” Rohit told reporters in Baramati.
Other members of the Pawar family, including Ajit Pawar’s wife and deputy CM Sunetra Pawar, son Parth, the late politician’s brother Shrinivas and his nephew Yugendra, also cast their votes in Zilla Parishad elections. They voted at Katewadi village in Baramati. Pune was among the 12 zilla parishads where polls were held on Saturday. Polls were also conducted for 125 panchayat samitis on Saturday.Both NCP parties formed an alliance for the Pune ZP polls. Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash in his Baramati during the campaign phase. Members from the opposition and NCP raised doubts over the crash.Rohit said he would give a detailed presentation on the crash in Mumbai on Feb 10. “Some issues related to the crash need to be brought to the public forum and therefore, I will give a presentation in Mumbai. I will share information and raise questions related to the incident,” he said.After Ajit Pawar’s death, NCP (SP) members, including former state chief of the party Jayant Patil, claimed that the formal announcement of the merger of both NCPs was to be made on Feb 12. Rohit said he would share details about the merger plan chalked out by seniors from both sides.
