Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya triggered fresh political turmoil on Friday by launching a sharp attack on a select group of people around her brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, branding them “vultures” and daring him to take responsibility for the party’s poor performance in the recently concluded assembly elections.Acharya’s remarks came soon after Tejashwi, the leader of opposition in state assembly, convened a review meeting with the party’s MP. Taking a jibe at the nearly two-hour-long meeting, she said instead of such exercises, the leadership should first introspect and accept responsibility.“Instead of doing the show-off of review meetings, it is more important to do self-introspection and take responsibility. Such review meetings will be meaningful only when the courage to get rid of vultures sitting around is shown,” Acharya wrote in a post on X. She added that the rest was already known to the public and that “the public understands everything”.The post followed Tejashwi’s meeting with the party’s Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members at his official 1 Polo Road residence. The meeting was also attended by a Rajya Sabha MP considered a close aide of Tejashwi. Sources within the RJD said Acharya’s post was aimed at this aide. This was not the first time Acharya had publicly targeted Tejashwi and his close associates. On several earlier occasions, she had blamed a few leaders for the party’s decline. Even last week, she took to social media to criticise what she described as “new people” who had become close to Tejashwi and were responsible for damaging the political legacy built by her father. In Nov last year, while leaving her parents’ residence, Acharya had, with tears in her eyes, blamed two party leaders for the family feud and the party’s failure. She had also announced that she was quitting politics and distancing herself from her family.
