Vadodara: An 63-year-old man was stabbed and robbed of cash and jewellery at a house in a village of Mahisagar district by armed robbers in the early hours on Thursday, according to the FIR registered at Lunawada police station.The robbery occurred at 12.30am on Thursday at Bhanpur village. Robbers targeted the house of Vinod Patel (63) when he was asleep inside along with his father, Manilal, and wife, Madhu. Madhu was sleeping on the upper floor while the father and son were on the ground floor.Around 12.30am, Vinod heard a sound in the house. When he peeped through the window of the room they were sleeping in, he saw four men standing in the other room. They broke into the room through a grille. Vinod and his father were made to sit on a sofa and Vinod’s mouth was taped. They also used the tape to bind his hands and legs. The robbers opened cupboards and took Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 45,000.The robbers told Vinod to get the neighbours to open their houses too. When he did not respond, one of them stabbed him in the leg with a screwdriver. At this time, a sound was heard from the neighbouring house where Vinod’s brother, Harindra, lives. On hearing this, the robbers fled.Vinod managed to free himself from the tape with help from his father. He then woke his nephew and told him about the robbery.
