Rifle, fake licence recovered from drug case accused

Ludhiana: Two days after Khanna police arrested Jagpal Singh Jogi and his son in a drug-peddling case and claimed to have recovered Rs 47,500 drug money, police have now recovered a .12-bore pump-action rifle, eight live cartridges and four empty cartridges from Jogi’s possession. Police also said they recovered a fake gun licence allegedly prepared in Tarn Taran.On Sunday, Khanna police said it had dismantled a heroin supply chain and arrested the father-son duo involved in narcotics consumption and peddling. Jogi, a resident of Daheru village, was arrested in the case registered at Sadar Khanna and was described as the crucial backward link to two previously arrested accused — Randeep Singh and Ashveer of Daheru — who had earlier been caught with 6 grams of heroin.

According to a statement issued by police on Tuesday, sustained interrogation revealed that Jogi, along with his associate Gurjeet Singh alias Guri, son of late Harbans Singh and a resident of Harbanspura, and two other accomplices, was involved in drug supply. All have now been nominated as accused in the case.Police said Gurjeet Singh has been arrested and 5.50 grams of heroin was recovered from him. Teams have been formed to arrest the remaining two accused.
