Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to launch the second phase of his district tour from February 3, coinciding with campaigning for the February 11 elections to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations in the state.CM Revanth, who is in the US attending a leadership programme at the Kennedy School of Harvard University, is expected to begin the tour after returning to the city. The first phase of his district tour concluded at Medaram on January 19. Sources said CM Revanth will address public meetings in Miryalguda in the combined Nalgonda district on February 3, Jagtial in Karimnagar district on February 4, Chevella in Ranga Reddy district on February 5, Bhupapally on February 6, Medak on February 7, and Nizamabad on February 8.The CM has directed that screening committees, led by in-charge ministers, will finalise candidates for the municipal elections based on surveys conducted by professional agencies. The ministers will be responsible for finalising candidates, devising strategies, quelling rebel trouble, and ensuring victory for party candidates.Revanth has instructed ministers heading the screening committees to take into consideration social justice, loyalty to the party, integrity, and discipline, in addition to winnability, when finalising candidates.āLocal conditions keyāDeputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said ministers, along with the TPCC president, will consider the possibility of alliances. TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud told TOI that alliances will be arranged according to local conditions in every ward, municipality, and municipal corporation, with the CPI and TJS. He stated that the party leadership is not holding any talks with the AIMIM regarding an alliance in the municipal elections. He also said efforts were being made to ensure that BCs receive more than 42% of party tickets in the ULB polls.With the last date for filing nominations on January 30 and candidates yet to be finalised, the TPCC leadership has given multiple aspirants a free hand to file nominations, with a rider to withdraw in favour of the candidate finalised by the party. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 3. The TPCC wants only candidates who have been issued B-Forms to remain in the electoral fray.
