Retired teacher gets life term for killing younger brother

Ara: The court of the second additional district and sessions judge, Sudhakar Pandey, on Monday awarded rigorous life imprisonment to a retired govt school teacher, Md Abdul Aziz, for the murder of his younger brother.The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the convict. The amount will be handed over to the wife of the victim, said the additional public prosecutor (APP), who argued on behalf of the prosecution.Giving details of the case, the APP said, “One Raisa Bano of Phulwarisharif in Patna district had lodged an FIR with the Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district in April 2024. In her FIR, she alleged that on April 22, 2024, her husband, Md Liyakat Ali, went to attend a marriage ceremony at Garhani in Bhojpur. The elder brother of her husband, Md Abdul Aziz, also went to attend the same marriage ceremony. Later, after the wedding ceremony, both brothers stayed at the house of their sister situated at Garhani under the Charpokhari police station of Bhojpur district.“In the morning of April 23, 2024, Md Abdul Aziz, a retired schoolteacher, shot dead his younger brother, Md Liyakat Ali. The reason behind the incident was a land dispute between the two brothers,” the APP added. He said charges against the accused were framed on Jan 3, 2025, and the prosecution produced nine witnesses during the trial.“On Monday, the court, on the basis of the evidence produced during the trial, found Md Abdul Aziz, originally a resident of Barauda under Agiaon police station of Bhojpur district, guilty of committing murder in the case and awarded him life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh against him,” the APP said.
