Noida: Residents of Sector 22 have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of the internal road connecting blocks A to C. Constructed over seven years ago, the road has been dug-up several times to lay down water and sewer lines, resulting in damage and a proliferation of potholes.According to residents, the situation worsens during the monsoon season, when potholes fill up with water and make the stretch extremely hard to navigate. Residents raised concerns over accident risks in the area, which is frequented by many, including senior citizens and children.“Since this road was constructed, it has been dug-up numerous times for water and sewer line work. Currently, the road is in a dilapidated condition in several places, with many potholes. We made numerous complaints – both verbal and written – to the relevant department at Noida Authority, but we only received reassurances without any real action,” said Sudarshan Awasthi, a resident in the A block of Sector 22.He went on to add, “It feels as though the administration is waiting for an incident to occur before addressing the issue. We are deeply concerned for safety.”Residents urged officials to take immediate action to recarpet the road and prevent potential accidents.“Children and seniors who often step out for their play or walks are at risk of getting injured. They deserve a safer environment. Therefore, we demand that the road should be repaired on priority,” said another resident of the sector.When contacted, officials from Noida Authority said that repairs will be done on such stretches across the city soon.One of the earlier developed sectors in the city, Sector 22 is densely populated with over 20,000 residents calling the sector home. The civic infrastructure here is over three decades old, and in desperate need of a revamp. Located centrally, the sector features a combination of residential blocks, small-scale industries, and proximity to major commercial areas, with prominent hospitals, markets, and malls in its vicinity.
