Noida: Residents of Shiv Shakti Apartment, Janta Flats, in Sector 71 have flagged about broken electrical panel boxes in the society. There are 1,680 units in the society, of which 30 meter panel boxes are in disrepair. posing a threat of short circuits.
Residents said the number was even higher, with over 80 panels damaged as of last year. After a delay of more than two years, approximately 50 were repaired or replaced last year. However, 30 panels still await repair. The RWA’s general secretary, Sanjay Shukla, on Monday told TOI that there was no redress despite repeated complaints. “These panels are located adjacent to the buildings and there have been instances of electric shocks and in many houses which could lead to a fire hazard at any time,” said Shukla. He said the RWA has submitted a letter addressed to the chief engineer, Noida power department, PVVNL, seeking replacement of the damaged meter panels. When contacted, Tejwant Gupta, the sub-divisional officer in charge of the area, told TOI that there were currently no new plans for any upgrades in the area, but proposals were being made in response to residents’ complaints. “We will work on the repair upgrades once the proposal plans are approved. Meantime, I will send a team to inspect the complaints raised by the residents regarding meter panels and fix them,” said Gupta.
