Noida: As winds slowed, the city’s air quality deteriorated back to ‘poor’ after two days in the ‘moderate’ category. In Ghaziabad, the AQI worsened further to ‘very poor’ on Monday. Visibility remained below 500m during the morning hours in the region.Noida logged an AQI of 219 against Sunday’s 120, while Greater Noida’s AQI shifted 226 from 155. In Ghaziabad, the AQI shifted drastically to 302 from 173 the day before.According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board portal, all four Noida air monitoring stations recorded ‘poor’ air on Monday, with Sector 116 recording the worst AQI at 233, followed by Sector 1 (AQI 219), Sector 62 (AQI 213), and Sector 125 (AQI 211). In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park V (AQI 263) recorded ‘poor’ air quality, while Knowledge Park III (AQI 188) was in the ‘moderate’ range.In Ghaziabad, Loni recorded the worst AQI at 333 in the ‘very poor’ category, while Indirapuram (AQI 292) and Vasundhara (AQI 281) were in the ‘poor’ range. Data from the Sanjay Nagar station was not available on Monday.According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), surface winds on Monday were from the north, with speeds below 10 kmph during the afternoon hours, further decreasing to around 8 kmph during the evening and night.On Tuesday, the city is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky, with 1 or 2 spells of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph during the early morning to forenoon hours. Light rain spells may also occur in the evening.The predominant surface wind is expected to be from the southeast, with speeds below 12 kmph in the morning, increasing to around 15 kmph in the afternoon before decreasing to about 10 kmph during the evening and night
