Amritsar: Bapu Tarsem Singh, father of jailed MP Amritpal Singh, said the alleged killing of Ranjit Singh in an encounter had exposed the “anti-Sikh face” of the AAP govt, and demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI to bring out the truth. In a statement issued on Thursday, Shamsher Singh Padhri, press secretary of Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, said Bapu Tarsem Singh maintained that the encounter had raised serious questions about the govt’s intent and handling of the case.He said while the killing of two police personnel in Gurdaspur was unfortunate, the govt had prematurely declared 19-year-old Ranjit Singh of Aadiyan village as being involved, instead of conducting a thorough and impartial probe. “The encounter of Ranjit Singh is a direct violation of human rights and stands as a stain on Punjab’s Aam Aadmi Party government,” he said.Meanwhile, terming the Gurdaspur encounter “fake,” Advocate Jagdeep Singh Randhawa of the Khalra Mission Organisation (KMO) said KMO and the Manukhi Adhikar Insaaf Sangarsh Committee (MAISC) had urged the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana high court to take suo motu notice of the encounter and order an impartial inquiry into all alleged fake encounters reported since the formation of the Bhagwant Mann govt.
