Ranhola robbery: Police identify deceased youth

New Delhi: After a teen collapsed on the road in Outer Delhi’s Ranhola early Saturday and later died after allegedly being robbed instead of receiving help, Delhi Police has identified him as Tarun, an 18-year-old resident of Mohan Garden whose mobile phone was stolen while he lay unconscious on Jan 31. The suspects, riding a scooter, were last seen heading towards Najafgarh, police said. According to investigators, Tarun earned a living through small jobs and often moved across neighbourhoods, arranging food and shelter on his own. To identify him, teams circulated his photographs in the locality and approached boys of a simi-lar age group, who recognised him. “With their help, we traced his home in Mohan Garden, where his family confirmed he had left about a year ago and had a history of seizures,” an officer said.

The case came to light after CCTV foota-ge of the theft went viral. It shows Tarun walking, suddenly collapsing, and minutes later, two men arriving on a scooter, robbing him and then fleeing. tnn
