Lucknow: Raksha Bandhan celebration was organised by Maa Janaki Seva Nyas at City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar on Sunday.Chief guest and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Awadh prant pracharak, Kaushal Kishore, said, “Raksha Bandhan not only celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, it symbolises trust, responsibility, respect, social unity and protection too and it is the duty of every citizen to protect the society, nation and nature.”The event featured a special video clip, a dance-drama, cultural performances by children and a group song highlighting the cultural and social significance of Raksha Bandhan.Taking this message forward, Maa Janaki Seva Nyas launched the “Celebrate a Plastic-Free Festival” campaign. An appeal was made to everyone to celebrate festivals while also fulfilling their responsibility toward environmental protection and taking a pledge to reduce plastic use.Families attended the programme and tied rakhis to one another, taking a pledge of protection. The Raksha Sutra ceremony began with a rakhi being first tied to the portrait of Bharat Mata. The programme concluded with Vande Matram.Dignitaries such as MP Dinesh Sharma, MLC Pawan Singh Chauhan and MLA OP Srivastava were present on the occasion.
