Rajsamand admin inspects Haldighati, Rakt Talai sites following HC directives

Jaipur: The Rajsamand district administration conducted a thorough inspection of the heritage sites Haldighati and Rakt Talai Thursday, acting upon directives from the Rajasthan High Court. The initiative followed the court’s suo motu cognisance of a TOI special report titled “Highway to Haldighati: Where Chetak’s leap meets truck’s roar”, highlighting the deteriorating conditions at these sites, which suffers from issues such as excessive weeds, litter, and sewage contamination. The inspection was spearheaded by District Collector Arun Kumar Hasija and Superintendent of Police Mamta Gupta. They were joined by various administrative and departmental officials to assess sanitation, infrastructure, security, and tourist management at both locations. The high court had previously raised concerns over the state of these sites and mandated 16 govt departments to provide affidavits and compliance reports. At Rakt Talai, the district collector ordered immediate action, including a special cleaning drive, the installation of more dustbins, and the establishment of a permanent drainage system. He also called for the demolition of dilapidated structures, the appointment of a caretaker, and the implementation of necessary fencing around the area to improve safety. In addressing the encroachments by local vendors obstructing road access to Rakt Talai, officials were instructed to remove these promptly and enforce no-parking rules. During the Haldighati review, the emphasis was placed on enhancing visitor experience, with directives for roadside safety railings, permanent security deployment, and appropriate parking facilities.
