Rajasthan state legal services holds sensitisation drive to empower third gender community

Jodhpur: Encouraging members of the third gender community, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), secretary Manish Harjai highlighted their rights, their role, participation in society, and the importance of their empowerment and advised them to move forward with confidence while emphasing the need to strengthen their social inclusion. He was addressing a two day Gender Minority (LGBTQIA+) sensitisation programme organised by the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority in Jodhpur that concluded Thursday.Harjai’s address was on the theme “Towards Inclusive Justice: Sensitisation towards Gender Minorities for a Developed India 2047” and focused on issues related to gender-based discrimination and inequalities. He also boosted the morale of the community by informing them about their right to education, career counselling opportunities, and various welfare schemes and legal provisions available to support them. The programme also addressed key concerns raised by gender minorities, including the need for shelter facilities, legal assistance, and mental health services, and provided information related to these support mechanisms.
