Jaisalmer: Rajasthan’s Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) brought notorious drug mafia Ramesh Kumar (31) to Dhorimnna in Barmer district Saturday after arresting him in Kolkata in West Bengal and produced him before the MJM Barmer court.Kumar is a resident of Barmer and has 31 cases in five different states, which include drug trafficking, robbery, assault, vehicle theft, liquor smuggling, ransom, and kidnapping charges against him.Dhorimnna Station Officer Deep Singh Chauhan said that Anti-terrorism squad (ATS), and ANTF teams stayed in West Bengal disguised as labourers for months to arrest Kumar. After arresting him, the team handed him over to Barmer police Saturday.Chauhan said the ANTF Barmer team and Dhorimnna police paraded Kumar by foot through the main markets for one km before presenting him in the court. He said this was done to send a strict message to other traffickers and that police action against drugs would continue.The court has sent Kumar on two days’ police remand to Dhorimnna police for interrogation in a 2018 kidnapping and ransom case. According to the police, Kumar is believed to be the main kingpin of MD (methamphetamine) manufacturing in western Rajasthan. The MD manufacturing units seized in Jodhpur, Barmer, Sirohi, and several other places were all allegedly operated by him.
