On the occasion of the birth anniversary of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar ji, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Department of Agriculture Marketing, Agricultural External Affairs and Agriculture Exports, Dinesh Pratap Singh has taken the initiative to change the name of Harthi Park intersection located in Rae Bareli Nagar and ‘Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Chowk’.
He has sent a letter of request to this effect to the Municipal Development Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh. In the letter, he has mentioned that this intersection is located at the heart of Rae Bareli city, where a huge statue of Babasaheb is installed. This site has been the center of faith and inspiration of the public over the years. He has requested that necessary action should be ensured to make the said intersection to be legalized in the name of Babasaheb, so that this site should remain a permanent memory of his contribution for generations to come.
The Hon’ble Minister has requested the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Uttar Pradesh, through the letter, that the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Bodhisattva Babasaheb at the Elephant Park intersection and its nearby campus should be developed as an inspirational and cultural memory. He has written that this statue is a symbol of Babasaheb’s ideas and conflicts, which all Ambedkarist society including Rae Bareli sees as the center of inspiration. For the overall development of this site, he has demanded to issue necessary funds by granting legal approval from the Ministry of Culture, so that this area can be developed according to Babasaheb’s personality.
