RaeBareli : District Magistrate Harshita Mathur has informed that a digital library is being established by the Panchayati Raj Department at a cost of Rs 4.00 lakh in more than 200 gram panchayats of Rae Bareli district. In this, the gram panchayats which have minimum 02 rooms and 01 halls in panchayat buildings have been selected. The library will be operated from the Panchayat Bhavan itself.
According to the mandate issued on 17 March 2025, the Government of India Finance Ministry New Delhi will create a child and adolescent library (digital library) in rural areas on the direction of the Scheme of Special Assistant for Capital Investment 2023-24. District Panchayat Raj Officer Soumya Sheel Singh has informed that the specialization of the materials used in the establishment of a digital library will be determined by the committee constituted under the chairmanship of Director Panchayati Raj at the state level.
At the district level, furniture, computer, book, cupboard, LEDTV etc. will be purchased through the Gem portal by the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. Out of the total issued 4.00 lakh rupees, Rs 2.00 lakh will be spent on furniture, wardrobe, computer, TV etc. and the remaining 2.00 lakh rupees and digital content will be spent. All funds will be spent on the recommendation of the District Level Committee from the joint account of District Panchayat Raj Officer and Chief Development Officer at the district level.
At the Gram Panchayat level, the digital library will be operated by the Gram Panchayat Assistant and the Chief Development Officer has been nominated by the government for the establishment of a digital library at the district level.
