Quote of the Day from the Bhagavad Gita, 16 October 2026: Krishna's Message for Those Waiting for a Sign to Move Forward
A woman in her forties dreams of opening a bakery but hesitates to start. Krishna’s teachings emphasize personal decision-making rather than waiting for signs or omens. It is important to reflect on circumstances before taking action, including assessing finances and risks. Delaying action can become a habit that stifles progress, so small steps should be taken. Ultimately, readiness is key, and the woman now needs to place her first order.

A woman in her forties has wanted to open a small bakery for years. She keeps saying she will start “when the time feels right”. Each new year, she waits for some clear signal. It still has not come. Many people hold back like this, hoping life will announce the right moment. Krishna’s advice in Chapter 18, Verse 63 of the Bhagavad Gita points elsewhere. After teaching Arjuna at great length, he tells him to reflect on everything fully and then act as he chooses. There is no promise of an omen. The decision goes back to Arjuna.

Signs Often Arrive After the Step

The would-be baker might picture a sudden rush of confidence or a perfect shop space turning up. Real openings tend to appear once someone starts looking seriously. One phone call to an estate agent can reveal options that years of daydreaming never did.

Krishna Trusted Arjuna to Decide

The Sanskrit phrase here is yathechchhasi tatha kuru, meaning “do as you wish”. Coming after seventeen chapters of teaching, it stands out.Krishna had shared his knowledge. He did not force the next move. The final step belonged to Arjuna alone.

Reflection Comes Before Action

Before giving that freedom, Krishna asks Arjuna to think over everything he has heard. The word vimrishya means to consider deeply. So take stock honestly. Write down the savings available and the real risks involved. Then pick a date and mark it on the calendar.

Waiting Can Turn Into a Habit

Some delay is wise. Too much of it slowly becomes a way of life.A useful test is simple. If the same reason for waiting has come up three years running, it may be an excuse rather than a reason.

Small Moves Still Count

Nobody needs to quit a job on Monday to prove commitment. Selling cakes at a weekend market is a genuine start. And every small step brings information that no amount of waiting could supply.

Readiness Is the Sign

In Bhagavad Gita 18.63, Krishna leaves the choice with the person who has to live it. Understanding has been given, and the next move is theirs. The woman with the bakery dream already owns a well-used recipe book. What remains is the first order.
