Question aid for B’desh: Raut to BJP mayor pick

Mumbai: Amid reports that BJP‘s mayoral hopeful Ritu Tawde said after filing her nomination that Bangladeshis should be thrown out of Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday challenged her to question PM Narendra Modi over the allocation of crores of funds for Bangladesh in the Budget.“Before making such hollow announcements, she should go straight to Delhi and ask PM Modi one simple question: Why did the Union Budget allocate hundreds of crores of Indian taxpayers’ money to Bangladesh?” he said on X. “Is this money meant to fund the ongoing attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh? Is it meant to support the brutal killing and persecution of Hindus there?” Raut told reporters that BJP had chosen a Marathi candidate for the mayor’s post because it felt pressured by the Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS campaign on Marathi pride ahead of the BMC polls. “Voters supported our campaign for the Marathi manoos and Marathi pride. Under that pressure, they had to elect a Marathi mayor,” he said. Raut called Tawde an import from Congress, adding that BJP has nothing original to offer.
